The Betty Jolly Scholarship
The Commonwealth Alliance for Rural Colleges has worked diligently over the past year and a half to set up the Betty Jolly Scholarship, a scholarship fund named after our dear friend and former board member who passed away in 2017.
Betty’s legacy is found throughout the Commonwealth. She was committed to her family, friends, and the communities in which she lived and worked. An educator, a champion for Virginia higher education, dedicated to bettering healthcare and end-of-life programs, a dedicated public servant to the Commonwealth during Governor Warner’s administration, and an expert in public affairs, Betty’s spirit and legacy of devotion and dedication endures. The Commonwealth Alliance for Rural Colleges seeks to continue her legacy with the creation of this memorial scholarship in her honor.
The first of its kind for the Commonwealth Alliance for Rural Colleges, once fully funded, this scholarship will be awarded annually to one applicant – preferably with a commitment to public service, leadership, and an interest in public affairs or a related field – at each of our member institutions.
Currently, we are in the early phases of fundraising the initial amount needed to fund this scholarship in the coming years. If you would like to donate to the fund, by PayPal or credit card, please enter your information below, or contact Thomas at the Commonwealth Alliance office (804-325-3161).
